Easter is Passed – Now what?

We had great turnout at our Easter Events — the Sunday worship was spectacular. Special muic and the Word of God alive in our midst. The Egg Hunt was awesome. What a joy to see the little ones scampering on the hill side looking for the hidden eggs, and of course the grilled dogs were fantastic.

But Easter is over so now we move on. We have of course the music “One voice” coming on April 15 and are excited about that. A fantastic group of young people from Southwestern Christian University.

April is our growth emphasis month and we are pushing to fill our pews. We have some long pews so it is a huge undertaking, but our God is a mighty big God.

The Resurrection

We just finished celebrating the resurrection. What a glorious event that is. I wonder if we take the time to consider how the resurrection of Jesus Christ altered our lives. Whether a person “believes” or not it still has an impact on you life. Especially here in America we stop and reflect upon this event. We gather in our church buildings, we gather in our homes; we gather in our parks. We purchase new clothing, “easter baskets” for the little ones, we over indulge on candy after all what is Easter without a chocolate Easter bunny. So here is the question, do we really consider the profound effect this event has on us. As a believer my destiny was changed because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. I once was destined to hell — yes it is a literal place — but now I am destined to heaven — and again yes it is a real place. Have you encountered such an impact? You can.

Christmas is Over – Now What

Have you ever noticed, we get all “pumped up” over Christmas, it comes and then what? Well I would submit now is a great time. We are rapidly headed (and you will most likely be there time you read this) into a new year A year filled with new opportunities. Opportunities you did not have in 2011. In our world of rapid change we can not phantom what might transpire in this coming year. For us Americans, we do know that there will be some significant choices we must make. We must decide who will be our leader for the four year period Jan 2013-Dec 2016. With momentous event on our horizon it behooves us to be much in prayer. Maybe it would be an excellent idea if all Christians in America would make the year 2012 the year of prayer for our country. Something to pray about.

There is always something

WE had some great times at our “Chili and Bean” dinner in October. Many friends came to enjoy some good home cooked chili and the beans to go with it. Then in November we had our annual “Indian Taco Dinner” — another great time meeting old friends and some new ones as well. We are always glad when our neighbors from the community come to fellowship with us.

In December (Dec 10) we will be hosting a free community wide fish fry. All the fish, hus puppies and fries you care to eat. This is our way of saying hello to our neighbors and telling them thanks for all they do in our community. Be sure you join us. Watch our bulletin and calendar of events for details.

Of course we are going to celebrate the birth of our Savior. On Dec 18 we will have two great services. In the morning we will have our “Christmas Program” The youngsters are gearing up for this special event. Then in the evening we will be blessed to have “Chosen F.E.W” in concert with us. There will be an open house/reception following. Come on out and join us.

Give Thanls

Paul wrote to the young Pastor “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thess. 5:16-18 nkjv). I often wonder what kind of situations young Timothy was going through. The aged Apostle comes with some gripping advise that even today resounds and can boost our energy and stamina for Christ. As we approach the holiday seasons let each of us step back and see how blessed we are. There are many unemployed, many ill, many lonely, but still we have the abiding One — Christ — who has promised to never leave us nor forsake us, to always provide for us. The beautiful thing is that He provides for us abundantly. ]

Be sure you take time during this season to reflect upon the greatest gift given to mankind — the Christ Child — and then you should be able to give thanks.

Plan Ahead

Some exciting things are happening:

* Aug 26 – Pairs and Spares are joining together for finger food. How do you cook a finger to where it is just right? That will be the question.

* Aug 28 – Monthly Fellowship Meal (Yummy)

* Sept 10 – Community-wide End of Summer Celebration – free food and fun things to do.

* Sep 11 – SonRise Ministry (John and Felise Hauser) to minister.

An Awesome God

Even in the heat of the summer our God is an awesome God. He is still saving souls, healing the sick, delivering those in bondage. We have seen Him do some amazing things of late and rejoice in His presence. It is a fantastic time to be involved in the Kingdom of God. To see the future unfold under His plans.

As our youngsters return to school this month and some even as late as next month, we are expecting God to watch over them, protect them, but to also use them. Afterall Jesus said we are “the light of the world” and He instructed us to “let our lights shine”. What better place to let lights shine than in our school system where darkness prevails so many times.

Be sure you pray for our youngsters, and the educators this year.

Summertime

It is hot outside, but we are having some “cool activities.”

Our Summer Outreach Program – this year “Jesus’ Hometown Nazareth” begins July 6 and will take place each and every Sunday and Wednesday evening during July. This is a time of wild, crazy, fun and games while learning about Jesus the Messiah. Open for all ages.

Fathers’ Day

Of course one must begin by saying “Happy Fathers’ Day”. But, what ingredients are needed to make Fathers’ day “happy”? Is it family? Friends? Successful career? or is it any and all the basic needs satisfied? That naturally is a question I can not hope to answer. I can however offer some insight which I have found beneficial in my life. First and foremost making it a “happy fathers’ day” is the same basic ingredient which makes any day a “happy day.” I believe that is your relationship with your Creator. Knowing that I am a child of God, knowing that I am loved beyond measure, knowing that I am watched over night and day brings a certain confidence. That confidence brings a certain fulfillment which produces a certain “happiness.” One could go on and on about how good or how bad one’s earthly father is or was, but if we will instead devote our attention and our affection to our Heavenly Father we will find that true contentment and yse true happiness is ours.

Least I forget, have a blessed day in Christ Jesus

Happy Mothers’ Day

When we consider all that Mom has done for us, “Happy Mothers’ Day” seem so hollow. I realize none of us had a perfect mom, but we all had a mother who went through the childbirth for us. We had a mother who carried us in the womb for nine months and then gave us life. So instead of just saying “Happy Mothers’ Day” do something special and extraordinary for Mom this year. Go out of your way to make her feel like the special person she is. But most of all take some time and thank God for your mother and ask Him to watch over and bless her.

To all our mothers I say “God bless you.”
